Startups without a technical co-founder
You have an idea, a market and maybe customers already, but nobody watching the technical side. I help choose what to build, with whom and at what cost, and make sure the first version is not your last.
Service · Fractional CTO in Ghent
Your company is growing, the technical decisions are getting bigger, but a full-time CTO is still too early or too expensive. As a fractional CTO I work part-time inside your team: architecture, hiring, roadmap and the hard calls. I think along on product and tech, then build it until it runs.
A fractional CTO is an experienced CTO who works for your company part-time, one or more days a week. You get the same experience and judgement as from a full-time CTO, for a fraction of the cost and without a long-term commitment. You will also hear part-time CTO, outsourced CTO or CTO as a service.
The difference with a consultant: I do not write a report and disappear. I sit at the table, own decisions with you and work inside the team until it works. The difference with an interim CTO: an interim CTO temporarily and full-time replaces someone who left, a fractional CTO stays on part-time for as long as it makes sense.

People work hard, but releases slip, technical debt piles up and nobody makes the call. I bring structure to architecture, roadmap and team without breaking the pace.
Your software is built by an external partner or a small in-house team, and you want to know if you are in good hands. I review quotes, deliveries and choices, and I am the technical counterpart on your side of the table.
Built it yourself with AI and now it is stuck, or the first paying customers are coming in? I take a look without judgement at what holds up and what is a time bomb, and we turn it into a product that can grow.
An architecture that fits your stage, not a conference talk. Choices your team can carry for years, and that you can explain to investors.
Hiring the right profile, structuring the team, coaching developers. Certified Scrum Master, and I built the dev team at Lobbi myself.
A technical roadmap tied to the business. What comes first, what comes later, and above all what to stop.
Where AI actually helps in your product and team, and where it bites. Concrete, because I ship AI in production myself at nanopixo.
Reviewing quotes, contracts and deliveries from development partners and software vendors. Someone on your side who speaks the technical language.
Reviewing code, architecture, infrastructure and team ahead of an investment, acquisition or major decision. I have been through an acquisition myself on the selling side.
Fifteen minutes to know if there is a fit. If there is not, you still leave with a clearer view of your problem.
The first weeks: code, architecture, infrastructure, team and roadmap. You hear in plain language what is in good shape, what is urgent and what can wait.
A fixed number of days per week or month, embedded in your team. I join the meetings that matter, own decisions with you and build where needed.
When a full-time CTO starts to make sense, I help define the profile, assess candidates and make the handover work. No dependency, just a team that can carry on by itself.
From 2020 to 2026 I was CTO of Lobbi PMS. I helped grow Lobbi into the leading independent hotel property management system in the Benelux, with 300+ hotels in production. Built the team, owned the architecture, ran the infra, and in 2026 closed the acquisition by RoomRaccoon and led the technical transition.
Today I am co-founder of nanopixo, an AI platform that turns property listings into promo videos, with paying customers across Europe and the US. Before that, 16+ years as CTO, founder and freelance developer, with long-term engagements at ArcelorMittal, Nationale Loterij, Telenet, Newtec and TBWA.
An experienced CTO who works for your company part-time, typically one or more days a week. You get senior tech leadership and someone who makes the hard calls, without the cost and commitment of a full-time CTO. Also called a part-time CTO, outsourced CTO or CTO as a service.
An interim CTO temporarily replaces, usually full-time, a CTO who left or has not been hired yet. A fractional CTO works part-time on an ongoing basis, for as long as a full-time CTO is not needed. In practice the two often overlap: I can also bridge a period until the right full-time CTO is found.
It depends on the stage. Some companies only need a fixed weekly slot as a sounding board, others need one or two days a week with me working inside the team. I am available two to three days a week alongside nanopixo.
A fraction of a full-time CTO, depending on the number of days and the scope. I work on a day rate, a monthly retainer or a mix, sized to your stage. Always paid work; equity on top is negotiable, but never equity alone. A first 15-minute call makes it concrete.
No. I am based in Ghent and happy to come by for companies in Ghent and East Flanders, but I also work hybrid or remote for companies across Belgium and the Benelux, in Dutch or English.
Yes, when code is the answer. I think along on product and tech, then build it until it runs. Need more hands than mine? I bring in people I have actually built with.
